Eliciting Requirements for an Argumentation Interchange Format

چکیده
Argumentation Mark-up Languages have been formulated for exporting and storing argumentation knowledge described by use of argument editing and visualisation tools. These tools enable user structuring of arguments through diagramatic linkage of natural language sentences. Recent work has focussed on implementations of formal logical models of argument inference, and argumentation based decision making, dialogue and learning. These technologies are intended not only for enhancing functionality of the above mentioned tools, but also for deployment in single and multi-agent systems. In this paper we discuss requirements for an argument interchange format that enables representation of formal logical models of argumentation knowledge used in intra-agent and inter-agent reasoning and communication.

Towards Characterising Argumentation Based Dialogue in the Argument Interchange Format
To facilitate development and practical deployment of argumentation systems, a recent shared notation, or Argument Interchange Format (AIF), has been proposed for representation and communication of argumentation knowledge amongst agents. The AIF is described as an abstract model, or “ontology”, characterising the core concepts and their relationships. Concrete reifications or syntaxes instanti...
متن کاملOn logical specifications of the Argument Interchange Format
The Argument Interchange Format (AIF) has been devised in order to support the interchange of ideas and data between different projects and applications in the area of computational argumentation. In order to support such interchange, an abstract ontology for argumentation is presented, which serves as an interlingua between various more concrete argumentation languages. In this paper, we aim t...
متن کاملTowards an argument interchange format
The theory of argumentation is a rich, interdisciplinary area of research straddling the fields of artificial intelligence, philosophy, communication studies, linguistics, and psychology. In the last years, significant progress has been made in understanding the theoretical properties of different argumentation logics. However, one major barrier to the development and practical deployment of ar...
متن کاملConstructing Legal Arguments with Rules in the Legal Knowledge Interchange Format (LKIF)
The Legal Knowledge Interchange Format (LKIF), being developed in the European ESTRELLA project, defines a knowledge representation language for arguments, rules, ontologies, and cases in XML. In this article, the syntax and argumentation-theoretic semantics of the LKIF rule language is presented and illustrated with an example based on German family law. This example is then applied to show ho...

In this paper, we present an extension to the recently proposed Argument Interchange Format (AIF) to capture Walton’s argument schemes.
